Description

Danish Le Klint chandelier designed by Kaare Klint

This Danish Le Klint chandelier is an elegant example of designer lighting, connected to the great era of twentieth-century Scandinavian design. Conceived within the Le Klint production and associated with the design language of Kaare Klint — architect, designer and master of Danish modernism — this model stands out for its refined pleated construction.

The round shade is composed of a regular sequence of pleated elements, creating a geometric rhythm that recalls the precision of Japanese origami. This workmanship is not merely decorative. When the chandelier is lit, the folds filter the light and produce a soft, warm and enveloping effect.

Scandinavian design, light and material

The appeal of this chandelier lies in the balance between formal rigour and atmosphere. The acrylic diffuser, illuminated from within, enhances the depth of the pleated structure. The result is a play of light and shadow of rare intensity, ideal for modern interiors, curated spaces, professional studios, galleries, entrance halls or dining rooms.

The metal structure supports the luminous body with essential elegance, allowing the sculptural and radiant surface of the shade to take centre stage. The overall effect is both scenic and restrained, typical of the finest Nordic design.

Kaare Klint and Le Klint

Kaare Klint (1888-1954) is regarded as a founding figure of modern Danish design. His design method combined functionality, proportion, material research and close attention to the everyday use of objects. In 1924, he contributed to the establishment of the furniture design department at the Royal Danish Academy, training a decisive generation of Scandinavian designers.

The Le Klint manufacture, founded in 1943 by Tage Klint, is renowned for its pleated lampshades, crafted with exceptional artisanal precision. Kaare Klint, brother of the founder, played an important role in defining the company’s aesthetic identity, contributing models that still belong today to the history of Danish lighting.
