These are the years of the economic boom. The lines are soft, curved, wide and enveloping. the furnishings are comfortable and relaxing. The armchairs and sofas have ergonomic and light shapes.
Important productions were those of Marco Zanuso (Milan 1916 – 2001) and his iconic Lady armchair, Gio Ponti (Milan 1891 – 1979) the glass and crystal furniture and chandeliers of Pietro Chiesa (Asti 1858 – Genoa 1915), the armchairs of Jean Prouvé (Paris 1901 – Nancy 1984) and Arne Emil Jacobsen (Copenhagen 1902 – 1971).
