It is the century of Rococo and Barocchetto; these onomatopoeic names already hint at the style of this period. Fancy and elegant, refined and graceful, it saw the birth of the great Italian vedutism with Canaletto, Bernardo Bellotto and Francesco Guardi.
In terms of furniture, this was a triumph of gilded bronze furniture in the Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. It was the century of the great cabinet-makers André-Charles Boulle, Piero Piffetti and Giuseppe Maggiolini.
