Antonio Mancini (1852-1930) was born and died in Rome.
He came from an Umbrian family of humble origins with his father from Narni and his mother from Terni.
He moved to Naples as a teenager to study at the Academy of Fine Arts under Salvatore Postiglione, Domenico Morelli and Federico Maldarelli.
He met Vincenzo Gemito while taking a sculpture classes in the studio of Stanislao Lista.
