Zaccagnini e Figli factory

The Ugo Zaccagnini & Figli Factory was founded in Sesto Fiorentino in 1905 by Ugo Zaccagnini, a former Richard Ginori employee. His five children worked with him: Urbano, Pietro, Prisco, Adele, and Enrichetta,
The company first focused on making majolica tiles and earthenware inspired by the historic models of the Della Robbia family.
In 1912, it moved to Florence and  started to produce larger volumes, presented at many editions of the Triennale and Fiera Campionaria in Milan and the International Handicraft Exhibition in Florence.

Prominent ceramists worked with the factory such as the sculptor Fosco Martini who made many, fascinating ceramics of animals around the 1930s, and the majolica painter Ugo Ciardella.
In 1936, after its founder’s death, the factory changed its name to “Società Anonima Ceramiche Zaccagnini” located in Piazza Pier Vettori 10, Florence. The position of CEO and artistic director was given to the eldest of the Urban Zaccagnini heirs.
