Assen Peikov (Sofia, 1908 – Rome, 1973) was a Bulgarian sculptor known for his works, including the monumental statue of Leonardo da Vinci at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. Peikov arrived in Italy in 1938 and worked in Rome, where he had a studio on Via Margutta. In the late 1930s, he collaborated with the “Marcantoni Ceramiche” manufactory in Civita Castellana. He was also a prolific portraitist, having sculpted over 360 subjects by the 1950s.
