Mario Ceroli

Mario Ceroli (Castelfranco 1938)

A student of Leoncillo, his love of craftsmanship led him to use wood and the electric saw to cut out figure-shapes. His figurative repertoire mirrors our society.

He also worked on set design.

Mario Ceroli and wood go hand in hand. The carpenter-artist (under the thin guise of a luxury cabinetmaker) traced his Apollonian silhouette on the wood of packing crates and went over the fine outline with his electric saw.

His quote: “I want to make something. I use wood because I like it, but it’s only a tool.”
