Guy Harloff was born on June 4, 1933 in Paris. He spent his childhood traveling with his family around Europe.

When he was an adolescent, he left his family and went to live the life of a Parisian bohemian among cinemas, theaters, libraries, and museums.  

A passion for painting

He went on to devote himself to painting, inspired by artists such as Hieronymus Bosch and Kurt Schwitters. 

Travel and work

Over his lifetime, Harloff lived in many different European cities and rubbed elbows with many prominent artistic figures of the day, including Allen Ginsberg, Ornette Coleman, and Francis Bacon.  He created collages, paintings, drawings, and even jewelry, exhibiting his works in Italy, France, the United States, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Harloff died in 1991 in Galliate at the age of 57.
