The Flos brand started in 1959, founded by Dino Gavina (1922-2007) and Cesare Cassina (1909-1979). It gained a reputation in the lighting sector in Italy and then in the world. The company is known for its commitment to experimenting with new materials, shapes, concepts, and innovative designs. Key to its success was the support of the Castiglioni brothers and Tobia Scarpa and their faith in the company.
In the 1970s, Flos acquired Arteluce founded by Gino Sarfatti. In the 1980s, it collaborated with the Philippe Starck brand on two iconic pieces: Ara and Miss Sissi. Its success continues to this day.
