Baccio Maria Bacci  Biography

Baccio Maria Bacci (Florence, 1888–1974) was an important figure in twentieth-century Italian painting. Trained in Florence and influenced by European Secessionist culture, he developed a highly personal artistic language that moved from early modern experimentation and Futurism to the Return to Order and monumental sacred art.

Throughout his career, Bacci combined formal discipline, Tuscan pictorial tradition and a strong spiritual sensibility. He exhibited at major Italian events, including the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale, and received important commissions such as the decorative cycle for the Corridor of the Stigmata at the Sanctuary of La Verna. Today, his Futurist works and paintings from the 1910s and 1920s are particularly appreciated by collectors and scholars of Italian modern art.
