Her given name was Modesta while her brother was born Francesco, but everything knew him as Citto Maselli, the famed director.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modesta, Titina&#8217;s birth name, means \u201cmodest\u201d in Italian, also described her character. Even though she was certainly a woman of the world, as seen in the videos shown at the exhibition, she was never ostentatious.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121142\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121142\" style=\"width: 218px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-121142\" src=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-218x300.jpg\" alt=\"Titina Maselli on Egidi MadeinItaly\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-745x1024.jpg 745w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-768x1056.jpg 768w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-1117x1536.jpg 1117w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-1489x2048.jpg 1489w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-600x825.jpg 600w, https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_9058-scaled.jpg 1861w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121142\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New York<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><b>Titina Maselli in New York<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maselli lived in New York from 1952 to 1955. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She sought and found metropolitan modernity in her time in America, and its influence was felt in her paintings from that point on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her 1985 painting <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> depicts a view with skyscrapers, a symbol of the American metropolis, where a weave of vertical and horizontal lines obstructs the view, conveying the hectic pace of modern city life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The artist gifted the painted to the Civic Museums of Palazzo Bonaccorsi in Macerata which put on the solo exhibition: \u201cTitina Maselli: Metropoli L&#8217;immagine ostruente\u201d [Titina Maselli: Metropolis, The Obstructing Image&#8217;]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She lived in New York, Vienna, and Paris and spoke fluent English and French. They married in 1945 and moved to Via di Porta Pinciana. They shared an impressive circle of friends, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/leoncillo-leonardi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leoncillo Leonardi<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Piero Sadun, Giovanni <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/giovanni-stradone\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stradone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Cesare Brandi, and Renzo Vespignani. The couple separated in 1950.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Titina Maselli&#8217;s artistic style<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solid reference points disappear when we try to pin down her artistic style.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As her biographical summary puts it:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHer early works were dense and pasty, influenced by the artists of the Roman School&#8230;.her painting later took on a much more personal character far from \u201crealism\u201d with a social orientation and from abstraction&#8230;Maselli&#8217;s paintings have been connected to those of Futurists and seen as forerunners of Pop Art.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121112\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121112\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-121112\" src=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/v25\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_8789-scaled-e1735806076178.jpg\" alt=\"Titina Maselli on Egidi MadeinItaly\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121112\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rue de Rennes Parigi 51<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is fair to say that her art, like that of all true artists, cannot be limited only to certain schools, movements, or trends.
