[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading uncode_shortcode_id=”171585″ subheading=”Coherence of mankind”]The Seven Sages by Fausto Melotti\u00a0<\/strong>[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-515460″ medias=”107429,107426,107137″ gutter_size=”3″ screen_lg=”1000″ screen_md=”600″ screen_sm=”480″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″ uncode_shortcode_id=”935997″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”208575″]As part of the 6th Triennale of Milan in 1936, Fausto Melotti<\/strong>, on requests of the BBPR Group, creates 12 dummy sculptures for the exhibition hall entitled \u201cCoherence of mankind<\/em>\u201d that are clearly
\ninspired by the characters of De Chirico.
\nIn the 1960s,\u00a0 the artist from Rovereto revisits the theme of the \u201chieratic figure of the sages\u201d, creating a set of stone sculptures in which mannequins once again have a key role \u201cI Sette Savi<\/strong>\u201d.
\nThe artwork soon takes on broader of stone.
\nSeven elements of the set of sculptures are all identical but positioned at different angles, creating an almost musical rhythm, as was typical also of Fausto Melotti\u2019s abstract sculptural style.
\nThe sequence centres around the variation of a single theme and brings us to reflect on the composure and sacred appearance of those who dedicate their lives to the search for knowledge<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1960 <\/strong>– The seven sculptures in stoneof Viggi\u00f9 are commissioned to Fausto Melotti<\/strong> by the City of Milan to decorate the garden of the new site of the Giosu\u00e8 Carducci high school.<\/p>\n

1963<\/strong> – The sculptures are defaced and vandalised by students.<\/p>\n

1969 – <\/strong>Melotti, particularly fond of the theme of the Sette Savi, creates a new plaster version of the sculptures.<\/p>\n

1981\u00a0<\/strong>– Melotti, in agreement with the City of Milan, creates a new marble version of the prominent set of sculptures, which are installed in the garden of Villa Reale overlooking the glass wall of the PAC building<\/p>\n

2013\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0SEA sponsors and supervises the sculptures restoration work and, upon their completion, displays them inside the airport of Milan Malpensa during the inauguration of the exhibition space la Soglia Magica at the Porta di Milano[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][vc_single_image media=”107456″ media_width_percent=”49″ alignment=”center” uncode_shortcode_id=”111313″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
