{"id":119767,"date":"2024-10-24T14:21:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T13:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/?post_type=artisti&#038;p=119767"},"modified":"2025-04-07T15:19:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T14:19:59","slug":"michele-cammarano","status":"publish","type":"artisti","link":"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artisti\/michele-cammarano\/","title":{"rendered":"Michele Cammarano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Michele Cammarano<\/strong> (Naples 1835-1920) was a painter from a distinguished family of artists.<\/p>\n<p>He attended the <strong>Neapolitan Academy of Fine Arts<\/strong>, where he was a pupil of Giuseppe Mancinelli and <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/gabriele-smargiassi\/\">Gabriele Smargiassi<\/a>, a landscape <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/school-of-posillipo\/\">painter of the Posillipo School<\/a>, he adhered to the latter&#8217;s verism and then switched to Palizzi&#8217;s veristic naturalism.<\/p>\n<p>His early experiences were related to landscape painting, a genre to which he would also return later, achieving his best pictorial results.<\/p>\n<p>He made his debut in 1855 at the Neapolitan Exhibition at the Royal Museum with the painting \u201c<em>Crociati che abbattono degli alberi in un bosco<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>(<em>Crusaders felling trees in a forest)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1860 he enlisted as a volunteer in the National Guard to follow Garibaldi&#8217;s exploits.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Michele Cammarano move to Rome<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In 1865 he moved to Rome, where he frequented painters <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/product\/antique-art\/old-master-painting-en\/federico-faruffini-work\/\">Federico Faruffini<\/a>, Cesare Fracassini and Bernardo Celentano.<\/p>\n<p>In 1863 he exhibited in Naples \u201c<em>Ozio e lavoro<\/em>\u201d (Idleness and Work), a work with a social character that was purchased by Victor Emmanuel II, and in 1872 in Milan \u201c<em>La breccia di Porta Pia<\/em>\u201d (The Breach of Porta Pia), which earned him much praise.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>La <em>ville lumi\u00e8re<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Between 1870 and 1875 Michele Cammarano stayed in Paris, where he met Gustave Courbet and Pierre-Paul Prud&#8217;hon.<\/p>\n<p>He participated in the <em>Salon<\/em> with the work <em>Un debito di giuoco<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In 1900 he returned permanently to Naples, where in 1902 he assumed the chair of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, formerly held by Palizzi, remaining there until his death.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>From our art gallery<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In our gallery we present a work by <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/product\/antique-art\/old-master-painting-en\/michele-cammarano-painting\/\">Michele Cammarano depicting soldiers in action under the snow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1900 he returned permanently to Naples, where in 1902 he assumed the chair of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, formerly held by Palizzi, remaining there until his death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":118526,"parent":0,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"tags":[6511],"class_list":["post-119767","artisti","type-artisti","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tags-c"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.5 (Yoast SEO v27.5) -
