1965)\u00a0 studied in Rome and graduated from the Faculty of Diplomatic Sciences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He gave up a brilliant bank career to devote himself to painting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He spent time at the <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/anton-giulio-bragaglia\/\">Bragaglia Art House<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Caff\u00e8 Aragno and the Roman School<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Riccardo Francalancia<\/strong> was part of the intellectual group of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/caffe-aragno-and-the-roman-school\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third Salon of Caff\u00e8 Aragno<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 where he met poets, artists, and intellectuals, including Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carr\u00e0, Morandi, <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/roberto-melli\/\">Roberto Melli<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/arturo-martini\/\">Arturo Martini<\/a>, Giuseppe Ungaretti, Socrate, <a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/artists\/armando-spadini\/\">Albero Spadini<\/a>, Longhi, and, significantly, Mario Broglio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Broglio, who founded the magazine <\/span><b>Valori Plastici<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was drawn by Francalancia&#8217;s flair for drawing and gave him a chance to exhibit in Italy and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1921, Mario Broglio invited him to show at the exhibition <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Das junge Italien<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in several German cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiorentina Primaverile<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following year, it was again <strong>Mario Broglio<\/strong> who presented his group of works at <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiorentina Primaverile<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the others of the Valori Plastici group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1925, he exhibited at the Rome Biennale.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Novecento italiano<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He took part in the <\/span><b><i>Novecento Italiano<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0exhibition organized by <\/span><b>Margherita Sarfatti <\/b>(8 April 1880 \u2013 30 October 1961) an Italian journalist and art critic.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He held his first solo exhibition in 1928 at the Stanze del Libro in Piazza Rondanini in Rome and met with great critical acclaim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was at the Venice Biennale in 1932 with five paintings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Magic Realism<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His name joined those of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/egidimadeinitaly.com\/en\/negozio\/modern-art\/modern-paintings\/donghi-antonio-via-del-lavatore\/\"><b>Antonio Donghi<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Francesco Trombadori<\/b> <b>in the artistic vein known as <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Magic Realism.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Magic realism\u00a0 a term first used by the German critic Franz Roth and then Massimo Bontempelli in Italy to describe painting based on great attention to forms situated in otherwordly, dream-like atmospheres.<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His works effectively transfigured objective reality, incorporating it into enchanted atmospheres inspired by Italian 14th- and 15th-century painting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1935, he took part in the Rome Quadrennial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His second solo exhibition in Rome was at <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Galleria della Terme<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where he showed 21 paintings in 1942.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most important of his few solo shows was the one at the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gallerie Della Palma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Rome in 1951.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was at major art events in Italy and the leading Italian contemporary art events abroad (Germany, Austria, Argentina, Japan, Greece, and Brazil).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1959, the Olivetti Cultural Center in Ivrea paid tribute to him with an exhibition that was essentially retrospective.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His art also met with Roberto
