Description
Gaetano Martinez was born in Galatina (Le) in1892.
He was a self-taught sculptor. Martinez took part in the Venice International Art Biennial for the first time in 1928, exhibiting Lampada senza luce (Lamp without Light) and then in all subsequent exhibitions until the XXIII in 1942, the year in which he had his own room.
He exhibited at the 3rd Roman Biennale, showing Fanciulla and Il vinto, and at the 4th Roman Quadrennial and many other official exhibitions.
His marble bust of Filippo Turati is conserved in the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
He died in Rome in 1951.
