Antonietta Raphaël lithograph
Rome 70s
Lithograph artwork on paper realized by Antonietta Mafai in 1970.
Description
Hand-signed at lower right. Located and dated ''Rome 70.'' Artist's proof edition.
In 1970, Antonietta Raphaël moved into the home-studio she had built among the poplars on Lake Vico. Here she tried her first lithographs, encouraged by Giuseppe Appella. In 1971, at the L'Arco Gallery in Rome, she had her first exhibition of prints and an important portfolio of etchings presented by G. Appella, Cesare Vivaldi and Alberto Moravia."In recent years we spent many months of the year together in the home-studio she had built among the poplars on Lake Vico. Towards evening we would go for a drive around the lake (...) The landscape was always the same, the trees too, the sunset an everyday phenomenon, but for her it was always a miracle, a new emotion, a surprise, as if she was seeing it for the first time. As if nature was giving her a gift and had prepared the show just for her...". Giulia Mafai
