Antoinette Raphaël Ink and watercolor on paper. At upper right: Raphael, Abbadia 15.8.56. Archived as an authentic work by the Centro Studi Mafai-Raphael. Archive number 1956-02-AP-24
Description
The work dated to August 15th 1956, dates from the period spent in Tuscany, immediately after the long trip to China made with the delegation of Italian artists.
This was a particularly happy moment for the artist: the solo exhibition at Plinio De Martiis’ Galleria La Tartaruga (May 1955), in which Raphaël exhibited works from 1928 to 1955, finally led to the recognition of her central role as a sculptor and painter in the events of the Roman School.
