The Garden Egg Chair was designed in 1968 by Hungarian designer Peter Ghyczy.

Ghyczy's concept was to design a chair that could be moved inside or outside and used with the seat open or closed. When closed, it can be picked up and carried like a suitcase. It is highly functional, and its opening mechanism ensures that the chair withstands the elements. Home furniture and a sculpture in one, it is a true Pop design icon.

Peter Ghyczy's Garden Egg has been collected by Karl Lagerfeld and Colette's Sarah Andelman, who displayed it in a limited edition in her famous Paris store in Faubourg Saint Honoré; likewise, Gucci's former creative director, Frida Giannini.

The upholstery is in very good condition There are small scratches from wear and age on the exterior base.

Inside cushion has been re-upholstered with a new emerald green fabric.

In 2018, Peter Ghyczy celebrated 50 years of his Garden Egg Chair, known simply as Egg Chair.
