Neoclassical Grand Tour statue

The original Gladiatore Borghese is a marble sculpture.
From the attitude it is clear that the statue does not represents a gladiator, but a warrior contending with a mounted combatant.
It was found near Rome in 1611.
It was restored by Nicolas Cordier and later  added to the Borghese collection in Rome.
In 1808 Camillo Borghese sold it to his brother-in-law Napoleon Bonaparte.
