Jean-Baptiste Soyer pastel on paper

Portrait of noblewoman with small dog

A charming pastel on paper in an oval shape. Depicts a young noblewoman portrayed in three-quarter view with her small dog in her arms. Seated in a gilded armchair, draperies provide a backdrop for her, hinting at a classical column, while she flaunts her jewelry with rare elegance and self-mastery. This important work can be attributed to a great French painter of the second half of the 18th century Jean-Baptiste Soyer (Nancy, 1752 – Saint-Nicolas-du-Port, 1828). The work is embellished with a wooden frame.
