Matteo Grassi

It’s 1880 in Lombardy when the Grassi family started making saddles, bridles, reins, and other leather equipment for horses. After World War II, the Grassi family, hitched their wagon — so to speak — to the boom of industrialization underway in northern Italy and expanded their production to include a wide range of leather goods, particularly home and office items. In the late 1970s, the name Matteo Grassi came to mean excellence worldwide for making distinctive and finely crafted leather furniture, including chairs, sofas, tables, and beds. One of the greatest successes among its early original designs was the Korium armchair by Tito Agnoli (1979).

Over the years, Matteo Grassi has worked with an impressive array of designers, the likes of Carlo Bartoli, Piero Lissoni, Alessandro Mendini, Franco Poli, Eoos, Luigi Massoni, Jean Nouvel, Matteo Nunziati, Mauro Lipparini, and Rodolfo Dordoni. The brand is known for high-quality materials and generous, elegant shapes — is found worldwide in airports and executive offices.
